Sunday's at my house have always been about eating. For the most part, it's a family day. Sunday breakfast is huge in this house, we have a big family dinner with the cousins, and let's not forget about all the snacking during the football games.
So I woke up this morning and made a simple feta cheese 3 egg omelet. It was simple and delicious.
For dinner, the family had breaded fried chicken with a sesame sauce. The sauce is made of tahini (sesame sauce), lemon, and salt. I had fried chicken without breading drizzled with the sesame sauce, and a side of kale mixed with bacon and fried in bacon fat. Bacon Fried Kale Recipe. I still felt a little hungry so I ate one whole avocado to help fill me up.
The NFL playoffs are a pretty big deal in our house. While I watched the game with my father we had a spread of cheese, olives, chips and dip, the usual football fare. I nibbled on cheese wrapped in turkey, dill pickles, and a few peanuts in the shell. I stayed away from the high carb foods like potato chips.
For me, the important thing on Sunday is to enjoy the family, and stay keto. I think that's what I like the most about a ketogenic lifestyle, you really can have the best of both worlds. We're planning a big super bowl party. I'll post my keto friendly spread a couple of days before the game. Keto makes it really easy to enjoy delicious food, and stay on diet.
I went shopping Friday with the intention of just buying food for the weekend. As usual, I have a terrible time judging food amounts for keto. I still have a bunch of leftover food and I plan on doing intermittent fasts/24 hour feeds. Basically, I'll just eat one large keto friendly meal, once a day until the foods gone.
I'm going to do a weigh-in tomorrow morning. I'm pretty confident I'm not in ketosis yet, so I'm not expecting much. I'll also use a keto strip (urinalysis) to see if I'm in ketosis. As soon as the food I bought is gone, I plan on doing a fast until I'm in a deep state of ketosis when the urine strip turns that deep purple color.
I think my first weekend on keto went well. Now it's back to hardcore diet mode, watching everything I eat and staying keto for the rest of the week.
